Why clean your air ducts?
In short, clean your air ducts because they get dirty, even if it's not easily visible. Beyond normal dust and dirt, other factors may mean your air ducts need cleaning sooner than later:
Indoor air quality is usually the top concern of our customers inquiring about professional air duct cleaning. The heating and cooling system circulates air in your home much like your lungs do. In day-to-day living, our environment becomes filled with dander, dust and aerosol chemicals. An HVAC system will capture and recirculate the air in your home an average of 5 to 7 times daily. Over time, these contaminants build up on the surfaces of your ducts. Forgetting to change your air filter on a regular basis just makes matters worse.
Dirty air ducts do not always translate to poor air quality or immediate health concerns. However, they may contribute to health issues of people with a history of breathing problems or immunocompromised status, as well as young children and the elderly. Schedule your air duct cleaning soon so you know you are protecting the health of those in your home, school or business.

Energy savings are another benefit of cleaning air ducts.
A conservative estimate by the U.S. Department of Energy says 25 to 50% of the energy utilized for heating or cooling hour home is wasted. Contaminants in air ducts make your system work harder to circulate air. With freshly cleaned ducts, your wallet can reap the benefit of more efficient air flow that uses less energy to heat and cool.

What's the best way to clean air ducts?
Precise Carpet Cleaning uses negative air cleaning with the push/pull system. This is the best and only recommended way to clean your air duct system.
We arrive at your home and perform a thorough overview of your system and ductwork. We then connect our negative pressure vacuum to the HVAC system. When your HVAC fan is running, it is putting positive air in the home. The negative pressure approach removes the dust and debris. This is the pull portion. Compressed air is then run to the furthest point from where the negative pressure system is connected, as the push action of our cleaning system. This process is vastly superior to systems that use a brush alone. Dander, dirt and worries are removed from your entire air system, not just the visible or easy to reach areas.
Specifically, we utilize a commercial grade HEPA filtered duct cleaning machine connected to your air duct system next to your furnace. The machine places the entire system under negative air pressure allowing us to use rotating brushes and compressed air to clean and push all the dust and debris from each vent into the HEPA filtered vacuum system. This allows us to clean each and every supply, return air vent, and main lines of the home. The closed system also means next to no chance of dust getting back out into your home while the cleaning process is running.
Effective cleaning of your ductwork does require that we make some access openings. They are expertly sealed when the process is complete with a metal plate or plastic caps. These pictures provide an example of what this entails.
Air Duct Cleaning Pricing
Every house is different. We provide up-front and clear pricing for each project. A one size fits all approach to air duct cleaning prices doesn't work for everyone so we gather the basics such as the number of returns in your house and provide you with a straight-forward duct cleaning estimate.
Air Duct Cleaning Recommendations
It is recommended to be done every 3 to 10 years, unless you have a respiratory concern with someone in the dwelling, such as asthma or severe allergies. If this is the case, cleaning more often could be beneficial.
I can clean my own air ducts, right?
Cleaning your own air ducts is harder than it looks. Some homeowners might think putting a vacuum down the air return is all it takes. Some might even try to open their own ductwork and then fail to seal them properly. Save yourself time and effort by letting the St. Charles air duct cleaning professionals at Precise Carpet Cleaning professionally clean your air ducts from the beginning.

Do you clean dryer vents?
Precise Carpet Cleaning also provides convenient and expert cleaning of your dryer vents. This helps prevent accidental, allows your dryer to work more efficiently, and lengthens the life of your appliance.
We normally use a rotating brush followed by compressed air to ensure a thorough cleaning. Cleaning your dryer vent can easily be done at the same time as your air duct cleaning. A dryer vent with a longer run and will likely need to be cleaned more often.
