Is your home dusty? Do you see dust build up on your furniture or floating in the air? One way to see how dust is in the air is to stand to the side as sun comes in through a door or window. Just look into the stream of light coming in and you should be able to see the larger dust particles.
Every house will have some dust floating around but if it looks like it is snowing, you may have a dust problem. There is a lot of reasons for dust build up in your home that may need to be addressed other than cleaning your air ducts, but air duct cleaning will help to lower the dust in your home which will help to improve your indoor air quality.
Our Air Duct Cleaning Process
There are many ways to clean air ducts and sometimes a combination of processes is needed to get them completely cleaned. But there is one way that is recommended the most: Negative air cleaning, also known as the push-pull cleaning system.
For this method, we hook up a very large HEPA filtered air duct cleaning machine close to your HVAC system. This system allows us to put the air duct system under negative pressure, keeping the dust in the duct system or in our HEPA filtered system during the cleaning process. Other systems can cause the air to become dustier after cleaning because the system is not closed up while it is being cleaned. With our negative air cleaning system, everything is closed up except the vent we are working on. This keeps the dust from coming out of other vents that are not being cleaned and focuses all the vacuum power into one area.
To clean each supply vent, return air vent, or main line we use a combination of a rotating brush and a lot of compressed air. Most of the time, we use a brush to contact clean the vents or lines and then follow up with a compressed air washing of the vents. This pushes all the dust and debris to our duct cleaning HEPA filtered vacuum system which collects all the dust and debris. We also clean the blower compartment while leaving everything in place.
Because of the process and equipment we use, we end up cleaning the indoor air many times while we are in your home. By cleaning your duct system this way, we are removing the dust and debris from your ventilation system while improving your home’s air quality at the same time.
Other Ways You Can Improve Your Air Quality
How many people and animals are in the home plays a big role in how much dust buildup you will have in your home. Using a good quality vacuum and having your carpet and rugs cleaned will help keep the dust levels lower. Vacuums with a HEPA filter are the best choice since it is not releasing dust particles back into the air while you clean. Vacuums with less filtration will release small dust particles as you clean. Dusting with slightly damp microfiber towels will also help reduce dust in your home.
Cleaning your air ducts every 2 to 5 years is normally recommended while cleaning your carpet is recommended every 6 to 18 months. Precise Carpet Cleaning can also help with all of your carpet, rug, and upholstery cleaning needs.
